You have poor sleep quality
Lack of sleep affects your immune system, as your body doesn’t get enough time to rejuvenate and repair damaged cells. You need at least seven hours of uninterrupted sleep each night, but it is important to assess how you feel when you wake up and throughout the day. If you feel exhausted in the morning, you may be experiencing poor sleep quality.
You are always under pressure
It is normal to have some bad days at work, but if you’re always stressed about your job and daily life, you are compromising your immune system. Chronic stress, according to studies, affects your system’s ability to fight infections or illnesses. This is because an extreme level of stress kills or decreases your cell count. You need to unwind or engage in activities (like a yoga class) that can help you recover from stress.
You are inactive
You probably know the benefits of exercise, but you always find yourself having excuses to get moving. Studies suggest that inactive people had many sick days than those who exercised daily, or at least took brisk walks almost every day. You can do your body and immune system a favor by taking at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily.
Your colleagues/friends smoke
Secondhand smoke is almost as dangerous as smoking itself. Apart from triggering allergies and asthma attacks, it also causes cardiovascular disease and lung cancer. It is best to avoid secondhand smoke at all cost or to spend time with friends or colleagues while they smoke. If you are already in the habit, find ways to quit smoking.
